Real Wedding: Lauren and Jordan
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings

Lauren and Jordan wanted a destination wedding so they came all the way from Toronto to get married in Arizona. Many of their friends and family followed them for what was a weekend of beautiful weather and a celebration to remember. Lauren even flew in her own makeup artist!

The floral designs from the Flower Studio are understated and lush- a perfect fit for the Four Seasons ceremony lawn. The chuppah is one of the prettiest I have seen.

Look at these hot gold shoes Lauren changed into for the party

Late night snacks and custom ice luge kept the guests dancing!

KG: What is your favorite memory from the day?

L/J: My most memorable moment that day was when I was walking down the aisle to marry the most incredible guy. The weather was magnificent and the sun was shining. I looked around at all my close friends and family that flew in all the way from Toronto, Canada, Montreal and New York. We even had a close friend come all the way from Monaco.

KG: What was the smartest planning decision you made?

L/J: The smartest decision I made was hiring Charlee Geisler from Signature Events. She was incredibly helpful and also my support while planning this wedding. With my mother’s exquisite taste and Charlee’s expertise it made our wedding what it was. From my first meeting with Charlee I knew I was in good hands.

KG: Did you go on a Honeymoon?

L/J: We went to the Four Seasons resort in Punta Mita, Mexico. It was breathtaking. We had the most incredible time from dinners on the beach to swimming with the dolphins. My parents have gone to this four seasons resort in the past and loved it so we took their advice and went. It was the best decision and it was only two and a half hours away from Arizona. Also the Four Seasons name sells itself to us!!

KG: What advice would you offer brides-to-be?

L/J: My advice to any brides planning a wedding is to just go with the flow. Always remember this is your and your fiances wedding not your parents and you should be able to do what is right for the both of you. It is impossible to always make both sides happy, so at the end of the day do what is right for you. We chose a destination wedding because we really wanted to be with the people who care about us and would make an effort to come to our wedding so far away. It really showed Jordan and I who really wanted to spend our special day with us. I was lucky enough to be able to hire Charlee so she took care of all of the planning. On the day of the wedding you just have to stay calm. My maid of honor hid my blackberry from me so I just focused on getting ready for my big day. I do believe hair and make up are so important. I knew I would not be stressed out if I had my make up artist fly in from Toronto to help me get ready for my big day. It was the best decision I made. He kept me calm and made my entire wedding party look stunning. After all of the months of planning the day itself went by so fast so enjoy every minute of it!!!

KG: Tell us what you love best about being married!

L/J: What I love best about being married is no matter what I do positive or negative Jordan always supports me and helps me be a better person.

From Our Pages: Young and Hip Welcome Bags
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, favor and gift ideas, Tips and Advice

When you have guests coming in from out of town for your wedding, it’s a given that you will welcome them when they arrive. The best way to do that, in addition to personally greeting them, is with a welcome gift bag. Partner up with your hotel to distribute a bag or box filled with surprises for your guests that clue them in to the mood of the weekend (the hotel needs to know that you plan to have their staff give these to your guests and they may charge a small fee for the storage, organization and delivery of said welcome goodies).

Arizona wedding and event designer Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings and Events suggests these young and hip welcome boxes for guests staying at a chic hotel like the Hotel Valley Ho; they’re fun and so are your guests, right?!

I love that the boxes are “sassied up” with personalized signage from Page and Mason Invitations

The Hotel Valley Ho is renowned for it’s rocking pool scene so these yellow flip flops will be much appreciated by your guests and the hangover kit? Well, that speaks for itself…it’s genius!

Here is the video from Serendipity Videography with Victoria’s thoughts on the Young and Hip Welcome Box:

What items are essential for welcome gift bags? Regardless of budget, you should always provide your guests with the following:

-A  container of some sort; whether it be a bag, a box or some other vessel, your guests will need help carrying their goodies

-Water; anyone not used to the desert is surprised by how dry it is here and they will feel parched eventually!

-Visitor Information/Itinerary; avoid people getting lost or forgetting times and locations by providing them with information for the weekend. You can include a map, a magazine, etc. Check with the visitor’s bureau of the city your guests are staying in and or where you are getting married- they are probably happy to provide their magazines for free.

- A note of thanks for traveling to Arizona for your special day

Happy Planning from your Arizona Wedding Blog!

Kelly
