The Destination Honeymoon (Part 4)- The Hairdo!
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, health and beauty

Corinna Cooke, the uber-talented makeup guru who leads a more- than- fabulous- life,  has scored big for you! Read on to find out how to get a great deal on the hottest thing to hit hair…

So you’ve worked out, got the cool bikini (or hiking boots!) your skin is looking gorgeous, you’ve packed the perfect makeup bag and you’re ready to head out on the vacation of a lifetime – your honeymoon.

Of all the trips you’ll take in your life, this is the one where you really want to look and feel your best. Which brings about the issue of the hairdo.

If you’re heading out to the islands, or maybe a beach getaway, or any vacation where you’ll be swimming, or changing climate from the dry desert air to something a little more humid, you need a plan so that you don’t wind up sporting an unmanageable ball of frizz on your head!

And preferably a plan that doesn’t involve you spending hours in your hotel room with buckets of goopy serum and a flat iron, trying to get back glossy, healthy looking hair to wear out to dinner with your brand new husband

The most exciting new trend in hair is the revolutionary Brazilian Blowout. (also known as the Keratin Treatment)

The Brazilian Blowout is a gorgeous long term treatment that puts keratin into the hair shaft and seals it there, defrizzing, smoothing and leaving you with silky, super shiny hair. You can wear your hair straight, or you can have your curls smoother and more defined. It also drastically cuts down the time you spend styling your hair, and the amount of product you have to use in order to get controllable and luscious looking locks. No wonder celebrities swear by it!

The Brazilian is a simple process that lasts approximately four months. The first week your hair is a little on the flat side, so ideally have it done a month or so before the wedding. If you’re a girl who colors, you’ll find your color lasts longer and has way more shine than ever.

You’ll sail through your wedding with perfect, glossy, healthy looking hair and head out on your honeymoon with the most manageable, gorgeous hair you’ve ever had!

Celebrity color specialist Heather Strange (Girls Next Door, Alyssa Milano) recently left her position as color and Brazilian expert at Jose Eber on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and moved closer to family in Scottsdale. She brought the secret to the stars’ hair with her, and I have asked her to give a special discount to Phoenix Bride and Groom blog readers. If you mention this article you will get a whopping 20% discount on your Brazilian Blowout!

Heather is at Carolyne’s Salon in Scottsdale- call to book at (323)443-5572

Did you catch that friends? 20% off from a professional that has worked on celebrity hair. Corinna is THE BEST!

Brides, have fun with this. I would love to hear your “review” of the blowout…

The Destination Honeymoon Couple (Part 3): Essential Skin Care
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, health and beauty

She’s back! International Make-up Artist Corinna B. tells us what a smart newlywed will pack to keep her skin looking perfect on her dream vacation:

Planning a fabulous honeymoon with the man of your dreams?

When choosing what to take with you it pays to think ahead, be organized and have a plan. Especially when it comes to your skin care! If your skin looks fantastic then so will you.

Remember to condense everything down into smaller plastic travel bottles & jars. Full size packaging will weigh you down and take up too much space. Some companies make travel sizes of their key products to make it easy for you.

Here’s a list of skin care items you can’t go on your honeymoon without!

  • Cleanser. Take a gentle cleanser that both dissolves makeup and cleans the skin. Your skin will need extra TLC after days in the sun, on the beach, or in a different climate from home.
  • Daytime moisturizer appropriate to the climate you’re going to. Your skin has different needs in a dry climate than it does in a humid one.
  • Facial SPF (at least SPF 30) for daily wear. This is not your beach SPF, this is your everyday, walking around sun protection product. Rhonda Allison makes a fabulous facial sunscreen that you need to try.
  • Eye cream day and night is essential!
  • Night cream/night time moisturizer. Don’t skip this step!
  • Specialty booster product. Depending on what climate you’re going to, your skin will have some extra needs. If you’re beaching it, or doing something that involves the outdoors, chances are you’ll need extra hydration. A serum or a moisture booster is essential.
  •  If you’re heading to humidity you may need extra help deep cleansing or spot treating break outs that may occur
  •  A rescue product. Too much sun? Wind burn from the boat? Hylunia’s Colloidal Silver Spray is an amazing source of instant relief to irritated or sore skin.
  • Lip balm! You’ll need it!

Look for products that do multiple jobs at once.

Melt by Face Atelier was designed for the savvy traveler. It not only cleanses, but dissolves makeup, soothes and gives treatment too!

Some companies such as Dermalogica provide single serve topical skin care capsules. Just count out how many days you need. This is a super lightweight, simplified way to travel!

Philosophy’s Booster Caps do exactly that! They boost your current skin care. Take one capsule for each night you’re away, snap it open and mix it with your night time moisturizer

There are two skin care products that you’ll need full sizes of:

Facial SPF for the beach. Get as high of an SPF as you can find! Neutrogena makes a dry touch SPF 85 with helioplex that protects the skin and wont break you out.

Body SPF for everwhere else. Get a sunscreen of at least SPF 30. Don’t forget to reapply every couple of hours!
