Real Wedding: Darsha and Doug
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, from the consultants, real weddings

Darsha and Doug shared their special day amongst family and friends and one very sweet little guy- their 2 year old son (see the smiley and handsome toddler below).  They hosted their Fall  nuptials at the beautiful Westin Kierland Resort right here in Scottsdale and thanks to their wedding coordinator Aleasha Shelton of A Day to Cherish Weddings, they thoroughly enjoyed their day with their loved ones.  Most of their guests were from out of town so the relaxing setting at the Westin  Kierland lent itself to a mini-vacation vibe.

Two things stood out to me  about this wedding: Darsha and Doug had FUN and purple was a great color choice- it looks amazing on Darsha. Her Maid of Honor did her makeup and I am impressed. See the perfect eyes below? Wow!

This couple, at the insistence of their wise coordinator, chose to see each other before the ceremony to take some photos and they are so glad that they did. Darsha says this time was really special to her because Doug got to see her in her dress before all the guests did and the extra hour alone allowed them to relax and have more time to spend with their guests at cocktail hour. So smart!

Darsha explains, “At the start of the ceremony, Doug held our son, Devin, as I walked down the aisle with my mom. When my mom and I got to the stage, Doug handed Devin to my mom and my mom handed me to Doug. It was really sweet. Doug’s mother passed away a few years back so we had a picture frame of her on the chair she would have been seated at. That meant a lot to Doug. During the ceremony, we honored his mom, my mom, his step mom, and his grandmother with handing them all a rose. At the closing of the ceremony, another one of Aleasha’s great ideas reigned true (literally). As we had our first kiss we had petals rain down on us which just made the moment even more magical than it already was.”

And this couple has a great sense of humor. Darsha tells us, “Our entrance song kicked off the night with a little good hearted humor. Doug decided that we should walk in to Michael Jackson’s “Black or White”. It was perfect.”

Sweet sweet love…

Congratulations Darsha and Doug! Thank you for allowing us a peek into your wedding day.

Love this color!

We can’t get enough of the color scheme of Suzanne Clifton and Michael Dixon’s wedding at the Estancia Club. These colors, illuminated with candlelight, are oh-so romantic.

Deep burgundys and reds appeared throughout the couple’s October celebration, from the elegant table settings to the groom’s richly patterned tie (below).

Guests’ escort cards were delicately hung on a manzanita branch…so pretty!

Spectacular floral arrangements in this color scheme provide a delicious contrast to the desert scenery.

Fabulous cupcakes from La Dolce Pesca!

Of course, our favorite part of the wedding: the blissful look on the newlyweds’ faces!
