Songs have been written ...
For most people, weddings are rituals, heavily steeped in tradition. Few people understand wedding traditions the way wedding coordinators do. However, when the bride is a wedding planner, you can expect some surprises. At the wedding of
Stepheny McGlothlin, wedding planner for Stonebridge Manor, and her fiancé John Hof, the occasion was a time to create their own cherished traditions. Stepheny and John hosted a party to remember at Stonebridge Manor for fifty of their nearest and dearest family and friends. The nontraditional approach began with the invitations, which took the form of personalized CDs. The couple’s favorite songs were compiled on a CD, which was mailed to their guests with the invitation printed on the CD labels. That definitely set the tone for a fun and intimate affair that truly represented the couple’s personalities.
The bride was stunning in a gold evening gown, while the groom wore an elegant suit and tie. “Rather than choosing a bridal party,” explains Stepheny, “John and I chose to have his two teenage daughters escort him into the ceremony and they stood up with us.” The ceremony site was overflowing with flowers and featured a white dove release.
While the newlyweds had their photos taken, wedding guests nibbled on appetizers served in exquisite ice bowls. When the happy couple joined their guests, they were escorted to the Stonebridge terrace where they dined on a beautiful meal at sunset. Rather than a wedding cake, guests indulged in a variety of gorgeous desserts, including a multi-flavor cupcake tower as well as pear and walnut pastries dipped in a caramel fountain. The guests danced the night away to classical and jazz tunes.
Says Stepheny of their customized celebration, “Without all of the traditional formalities, we were able to spend a lot of quality time with our guests, which made the night quite exceptional.”
