who says you can't go home?

When Jennifer Mazzola decided to move from Arizona to her hometown of Boston, she hoped to meet a special someone. little did she know, he may have been “hiding in plain sight.”

Although the online dating community is truly global, Jennifer had no idea that the man she would meet through match.com would be from her own neighborhood. While they got to know each other by phone and email, the two discovered that they had lived in the same area since 1979. Although they attended different schools as children, “our paths must have crossed several times over the years!” marvels Jennifer.

A first date quickly led to another, and another. As they say, the rest is history. When deciding where to wed, a complicated decision was in order. As the director of sales and marketing for Phoenix Bride & Groom, the bride-to-be had several long-term friendships with people who would undoubtedly help her craft the wedding of her dreams. In the end, however, she and lou decided that they wanted an intimate Boston affair.

The pair chose a venue very characteristic of Boston—the hampshire house, situated directly above the famous Cheers bar. The five-story 1910 Georgian revival town house is a showpiece with carved oak paneling, crystal chandeliers, italian marble and tall Palladian windows.

The ceremony was full of special meaning as the couple incorporated Lou’s daughters from a previous marriage, Erica & Gabi. “We embraced each other in a circle of love,” explains Jennifer, “while the minister said a special prayer. Then the girls joined us in a sand ceremony signifying the blending of our families.” The pair wrote their own vows with an emphasis on their new family.

In creating the ultimate dining experience for their guests, they began the evening with passed hors d’oeuvres and an open bar, followed by an elaborate meal. From the elegant invitations that set the tone for the event, to the sophisticated gold and ivory décor, the couple was ecstatic to have everything they desired in one place. Dessert was a special treat: miniature wedding cakes for each guest, flown in direct from Arizona!

Back in their home town once again, the couple is delighted to be expecting their first child.
