a spiritual journey
When Reggie Montgomery wed Alex Coley among the mystical Red Rocks of Sedona last June, the happy couple reveled in their happiness. As they were joined in marriage, the ever-elusive butterfly of Hawthorne’s famous poem alighted on the bride as well.
“From the beginning, this wedding had a very special energy or “vibe” about it,” explains Reggie. “Graced with light and love beyond imagination.”
“From (our) meditation that revealed Cathedral Rock in Sedona, to the Monarch butterfly that lit on my hair at the close of the ceremony, something I did not plan, felt like the Goddess herself had given us her blessing. These images captured not only the physical beauty of the moment, but also the spiritual magnificence.”
Many a bride and groom have felt a spiritual connection with the landscape of Sedona, and Reggie and Alex are no exception. They were inspired to create their intimate wedding celebration literally encircled by family and friends in this special place.
“While driving into Sedona we felt something very special, and were captivated by the majestic Red Rocks; a sacred presence was tangible,” she recalls of the couple’s first visit
to Sedona nearly five years ago.
“Alex and I were not interested in a traditional wedding ceremony or vows, founded in any one religion or belief system. We desired something organic, guided by our own internal compass, and a true reflection of us. Through our life’s journey, we have found Truth in all cultures and religions or belief systems. It seems, at the core of each, they speak the same language, one of Love, and this was the foundation for our rite.”
Wishing to keep the ceremony simple, yet enchanting, the couple designed a wedding that included a sacred circle that included their parents, siblings, children and dearest friends. Their wedding planner, a specialist in the Sedona area, referred to them the other vendors who participated. “Our special day was filled with magic, beauty and enchantment, and it would not have been as amazing without (the vendors’) help, passion and talent, for which we are forever grateful.”
