Style Unlimited:
Décor options that set your scene

A wedding is the beginning of a long and happy—and let’s not forget romantic—life as husband and wife. It stands to reason that the setting for such an important event should be nothing less than the perfect expression of your personalities and your relationship.

Whether your idea of “perfect” is modern, sophisticated, playful, fun and funky, or a cultural celebration, you can make your wedding and reception uniquely yours with carefully chosen décor. Thanks to the magic of event décor, what began as a basic ballroom setting can be transformed into a party environment.

Just ten years ago, wedding décor was limited to pretty tablecloths, flower arrangements and perhaps a montage of family photographs. Today, however, discerning brides and grooms are opting for more exciting alternatives—ranging from romantic arches, lounge furniture, lighting, and dressy chair covers.

Imagine floating on a cloud, surrounded by elegance and beauty. An ornately decorated canopy in the most luxurious fabric stretches out above you. Chandeliers dripping with brilliant crystals provide just the right amount of romantic, ambient lighting. Below, a lawn of green; in front of you are your family and dearest friends, relaxing in absolute comfort as they witness the most important day of your life. And that’s just the ceremony!

For the reception, we are seeing weddings that divide their space into dining areas and lounge areas alongside the dance floor. Bringing in additional comfy seating is a great way to encourage conversation among your guests. Sleek sofas and chairs near the bar create an ultra lounge setting that your friends will never forget.

As for the dining portion of your reception, don’t limit your show to what’s on the plate!

The options for chairs are expanding—and we don’t mean that in the folding-chair sense. Painted bamboo is showing up in celebrations everywhere (silver and black are our favorites) and acrylic chairs are bringing a decidedly modern edge to receptions all over the West.

There are lovely chivari chairs available as standard equipment in some venues, and of course you can rent fancy chairs from your décor specialist. Even the most common chairs can be transformed into something really special with the addition of chair covers and fabric drapes—even a fancy knot tied in the back (think kimono) lends a look of sophistication that your guests will notice. Ruffles, fringe, sheer light-as-a-cloud draping—the sky is the limit in decorating your chairs.

As for tabletop, prepare to be impressed by the options available through your décor vendor. From ethereal white-on-white combinations, complete with mother of pearl flatware and crystal, silver, or capiz shell chargers, to bold color statements in satin, damask and even toile, your party can pop with personality. We’ve seen some inventive uses of rose petals, peacock feathers, mirrors and even fish bowls—so many wonderful ways to bring your personality into the reception décor.

Take a fun color combination of table linens, add a dreamy chair cover and an interesting floral arrangement and you have a spectacular setting that will take your guests’ breath away. Increase the wow factor further by incorporating decorative place settings, a unique napkin, clever napkin ring or even a single flower at each place setting.

How about a series of “rooms” wherein your guests can enjoy different stages of the reception—cocktails, dinner and dancing—all with a different motif and mood? The choices are truly endless.

This is the picture of decadence that can be created in virtually any venue thanks to creative genius of Arizona’s finest décor professionals.

Event rental companies are the pros when it comes to décor—chances are, they can put together combinations beyond your wildest dreams, and still come in on budget. Visiting the showrooms will yield countless ideas; sharing your vision with your chosen vendor and letting the team run with it will make your wedding the breathtaking event of your dreams.
