Simply Sensational
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. —Leonardo daVinci
Aimee Comeau and Matthew Coxhead wed last October among family and friends and the simplicity of nature at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain.
“We chose the Sanctuary because of its raw desert backgrounds, city light views and its secluded feeling,” recalls Aimee.
Unlike some brides who search for months for the ideal gown, Aimee fell in love with the first dress she tried on. Her romantic updo was adorned with fresh orchids. Hot pink strappy sandals offered a modern twist to her casually elegant look. She carried a bouquet of fresh orchids and hydrangeas.
With similar serendipity, Matthew searched no further than the diamond from his grandmother’s ring to present to his bride-to-be. Some things are meant to be, as they say. The groom and groomsmen wore handsome summer suits in tan, while bridesmaids donned flowing chocolate brown gowns. “One of the highlights of the day,” says the bride, “was seeing each other for the first time. It gave us a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and our future together.” Amid a brief autumn rain, the pair exchanged vows and heartfelt letters to one another while a Spanish guitarist played.
Double rainbows appeared in the desert sky as the newlyweds began their reception on the outdoor patio. The dimly lit ballroom was the site of their wedding feast, presented on tables of apple green and hot pink linens anchored by brown chivari chairs and alternating green and pink floral arrangements. After a night of dancing, guests were presented with cookies in the shape of Labrador Retrievers—a gift from the couple’s dog, Maverick.
