Images of Love
The ceremony began in the Hawaiian tradition, with the pastor blowing the conch shell.
Amid flickering tiki torches, Tina Wright and Kevin Juberg exchanged vows on the sand at Makena Cove in Maui, with only their photographer and minister present. The beauty of nature on this summer evening was all that was required to create an intimate and touching ceremony for this “planned elopement.”
“Being wedding photographers, Kevin and I decided we wanted a destination wedding and we wanted it to be low-key. We decided to take a two-week vacation/honeymoon at which time we would also have our wedding,” explains Tina. “We thought Maui, Hawaii, would be a great location.”
Considering the amount of time that the Sierra Blanco photographers spend attending weddings, it comes as no surprise that this couple was eager to get to the honeymoon.
The bride wore a beautiful traditional gown in a stunning dusky pink hue, while the groom was married in a beach-appropriate pair of linen pants and an embroidered shirt. Their ceremony included an exchange of flower leis, symbolic of the couple’s love and appreciation for one another.
Once pronounced husband and wife, the pair released twenty white doves on the shore and dined privately on the world-famous cuisine of Mama’s Fish House.
What a lovely opportunity for fun, recreation, and of course: great photographs. A close friend who is also a wedding photographer was chosen as the only witness to the marriage vows. “We spent two solid days driving to locations all over Maui to capture our wedding photographs—which for obvious reasons were the most important thing to us besides the actual ceremony,” says the bride.
Kevin and Tina spent the remainder of their two-week excursion taking in the sights and sounds of Maui, exploring the island, hiking, snorkeling and swimming with sea turtles—which was a true highlight for the couple.
