Encircled by Love
Stephanie Lee and Marc Wasserman wed at the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Arizona Biltmore this November, literally surrounded by family and friends.
The traditional Jewish ceremony was performed in the round inside a white draped chuppah. Says the bride, “Crystals hung from the canopy so that the bride and groom were traditionally enclosed, but the wedding guests could see in to watch the ceremony from all angles.” As the rabbi performed the ceremony, the bride and groom were reflected in their mirrored wedding certificate, which was designed by the bride. As the groom stepped on a glass to finish the ceremony, Marc and Stephanie surprised their guests with a fireworks display.
The Gold Room was decorated in sophisticated gold and silver tones and accented by shining tables draped in gold. Centerpieces included gold “trees” dripping with crystal beading, and flowers suspended in tiny clear vases. “Everything sparkled,” said Stephanie, “I wanted to capture the historic character of the room and both complement it and accent it with the color scheme.” Each table included a collection of romantic votive candles alongside table numbers in beaded frames.
Guests enjoyed music by Novo Mundo and Affinity, offering a Brazilian twist to the festivities. The wedding feast included South American flavors of mango, orange and mint. A five-layer square cake accented with gold swirls capped off the six-course meal. The flavors included the groom’s favorite, chocolate; the bride’s favorite, vanilla; and a mutual favorite, banana rum cream.
Stephanie and Marc danced their first dance to Michael Buble’s “Everything,” and then were quickly surrounded by their enthusiastic guests dancing the traditional Jewish hora. They lifted the bride and groom in chairs and continued dancing throughout the night.
