Floral Inspiration
The wedding of Amber Parks and Warren Myllion was a blooming good time inspired by the bride's love of flowers.
“The morning of my wedding was both fun and relaxing” reports Amber. “My bridesmaids and eight best girlfriends spent the entire day getting ready and celebrating with me.” Warren surprised the girls with a basket of champagne and chocolates to enjoy as they prepared for the wedding at the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa.
Amber wore a spectacular flower hairpin fashioned by her mother, using antique flowers and elements of her grandmother's wedding dress. The bride was escorted by her girlfriends down an ivory aisle runner that was hand made by her soon-to-be mother-in-law. Her bouquet was a beautiful collection of white and cream peonies, white roses and lisianthus. Amber's mother created lovely paper cones containing fresh rose petals that were tied to the ceremony chairs. When pronounced husband and wife, the pair was showered with delicate rose petals.
A highlight of the couple's wedding reception was their first dance. Says Amber, “Warren and I took dance lessons and had a choreographed first dance which was so much fun to learn and perform!” The ballroom was decorated with showstopping arrangements of roses, hydrangea and snap dragons, accented by glowing votives. Heartfelt speeches and toasts brought love and humor the the evening, which was capped off by sweet surprises arranged by the newlyweds.
“Our guests raved over my wedding cake, 'The Valentino.' It was one of a kind, with frosted rosettes covering five tiers and [it]matched my dress beautifully,” recalls the bride. Inspired by a special trip to Italy (during which the couple is reported to have consumed copious amounts of gelato), the pair included a gelato cart at the reception. The groom's Vietnamese heritage was honored by sharing Lai See with their guests. The red envelopes are believed to bring good luck, love and good fortune to the bearers.
