In Good Time

While visions of the perfect wedding vary, a top priority for every couple is including the people they love. Krista Bossie and Eddie Orozco are no exception.

The couple, who both work in the hospitality business, had decided that an intimate celebration suited their personalities best. When the pair purchased their first home together, they decided it was time to make the commitment official and tie the knot.

“I looked at my calendar and saw that I didn't have anything going on at work that day and asked Eddie, 'How is Halloween? It's the only Saturday I have open at work between the end of September and the end of the year.' He agreed that if I could pull it together the date sounded great.” That date was three weeks away!

Although they originally thought they would get married at home, the bride-to-be discussed her plans with her manager at The Millennium Scottsdale, and opted for a intimate morning ceremony by the lake followed by a lovely brunch.

One advantage of working in the wedding business is the opportunity to work with excellent vendors, explains Krista. She was extremely lucky to be able to book some of her closest friends to work on her own celebration, which put her mind at ease in planning on such short notice. Close family and friends were available too.

The couple's wedding party included just one other person: Eddie's 11-year-old son, Brandon, who looked very handsome in a suit that matched his father's.

Locating the perfect bridal gown was a bit more complicated, “It turns out that several of the local bridal shops will sell you something off the rack, which is important when you do all of this three weeks prior to the wedding date,” she advises. She found a gown that was perfect aside from a few alterations.

The pair, who say they are “not cake people,” chose to sweeten the end of their morning brunch celebration with red velvet and caramel Bavarian cupcakes, rather than a traditional wedding cake. Krista chose to play up the Halloween date just a bit by asking Petal Pusher to incorporate orange into the floral arrangements.

“On the day of the wedding it was surreal. I'm so used to be- ing the one running around doing everything, I think my family was concerned that I was going to be stressed out. This was not the case, I was able to relax and enjoy the day.”
