Pieces of Heart
Wed at Brophy Chapel amid a sea of purple flowers, Rachel and Seth's wedding celebration was distinctly theirs from start to finish.
The pair exchanged vows in the church where the bride's parents and grandparents were also married. They drew inspiration from their favorite color and flower. “Everything in our wedding from the napkins and the centerpieces, to my ballet flats and Seth's socks, was purple,” explains the bride. “We chose to use tulips for the flowers whenever possible because Seth always gives me tulips on special occasions.”
Avid travelers, the pair selected the Phoenix Art Museum for their reception site on the suggestion of the bride's mother.
“We have seen some of the greatest museums in the world but the Phoenix Art Museum is the most special to us now,” reports Rachel. “One of the biggest highlights of our wedding day was the opportunity we had to take photos all throughout the museum,” she recalls. “We were able to use so many unique pieces of art as our background.”
Images from the reception include the bride and groom amid paintings and sculptures. They also got “into” the art themselves by posing with a giant black frame offered by their wedding coordinator. “Against the backdrop of the art museum, the frames made it look like we were art also,” smiles Rachel.
The reception space was decorated with bright white linens punctuated by pops of color: satin purple napkins, abundant pink and purple tulips on every table, and decorative purple and white table numbers. The head table was set in front of an enormous abstract painting featuring blocks of red, purple, blue and green. One especially artful scene was the display of the all-white wedding cake on silky purple linens. The cake table was set in front of a monchromatic painting.
Following dinner, the couple and their guests danced well into the evening surrounded by works of art that will now be seen as personal favorites.
“We love that we were able to have our wedding reception at a place that we will be able to visit and explore whenever we want in the years to come.”
