Riding off into the sunset
It is true you often find love when you aren’t looking for it.
Kristin and her brother Korey were looking for an off-road quad when love rode into her life. Kristin explains, “I met my soon-to-be husband by a chance encounter at the off-road Honda dealership he was working at. He talked with my brother and we exchanged smiles. I soon found out from my brother that Marvin had given his card to my brother and wanted to take me to dinner.”
A courtship soon began between the pair who connected on their mutual love of riding the dunes, and before long the pair was planning a trip down the aisle. The couple refers to their meeting as “Love at First Bike.”
Based on unique introduction, Kristin & Marvin’s mutual love of riding their quads, the pair brought some personal touches to their ceremony. “Some of our most treasured memories were riding at the Imperial Sand Dunes in California with our closest friends and family,” says Kristin. One recent trip had them bringing home sand to utilize in a ceremony during their wedding.
The bride’s experience working at Images by Kay & Co. Photography gave her plenty of ideas for what type of celebration she wanted to share with her new husband. “I knew that the photography of my wedding was huge,” she explains. For this reason, she went all-out by hiring three photographers. “They were all able to capture my day, giving me the best story-telling memories anyone could ask for!”
Seeking a simple wedding ceremony and a “big party,” the couple chose to exchange vows at a garden plaza at the base of the Mountain Preserve. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of sunflowers, circus roses and chocolate cosmos with loops of lily grass and rhinestone accents. The entire wedding party wore smiles of happiness that were evident in every photo of the day.
The couple’s party began to really heat up at the Phoenix Fire Department Union Hall, which was the site of many childhood memories for Kristin and her family. The reception hall was decorated in chocolate brown (a play on the newlyweds’ last name and a favorite sweet treat), and sunflowers, which have been a long-time favorite of the bride. Both were incorporated into guest favors, which were boxes of chocolate-covered sunflower seeds. The groom himself glued monarch butterfly decorations on all of the favor boxes.
As a fire chief, the father of the bride was able to pull out all the stops for his daughter including a ride in a fire truck for the newlyweds! What a way to ride off into the sunset!
