The Time of their Lives
Jill Fricker and Jeff Pierce
March 18, 2011
"Since I was a little girl, I dreamed that my wedding would be in the middle of a garden underneath a white gazebo," recalls bride Jill Fricker, whose Ohio upbringing influenced many of her wedding details.
Jill and fiance Jeff Pierce found their white gazebo and a beautiful, blooming garden at The Wright House, where a string quartet accompanied their walk down the aisle. Says Jill, "The Encore Quartet provided the beautiful soundtrack to my perfect day."
The lush green garden was complemented by shades of plum featured in the bridesmaids' gowns; and by lovely floral accents and the hand-made paper cones filled with flower petals given to each guest at the ceremony. When the pair was pronounced husband and wife, their guests showered them with celebratory petals.
"It was very important to Jeff and me that our family was involved [in the planning] from the beginning," explains Jill. Her mother and future mother-in-law were vital in the selection of the bride's attire. Jill's grandmother prepared a family favorite chicken salad, while her aunt created the favors, corsages and boutonnieres. "Around my bouquet I had wrapped a locket my grandfather had given me a few months before he passed," she explains. "It was my 'something old'."
A ballroom decorated in regal purple and gold welcomed the guests. Tables were draped in romantic white, while the gold chiviari chairs complemented the gleaming chandeliers above. The wedding party, equipped with fun props, entered to "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. Fun was on everyone's mind when it came time for the pair to share their cake. Says Jill, "Jeff and I lovingly smashed the cake in each other's faces as our family and friends cheered on!"
As the dancing and merriment continued, the couple took a moment to honor an aunt and uncle of the bride, who were celebrating their eleventh anniversary that day. Now they have an anniversary to share.
The last song of the evening was appropriately, "I've Had the Time of My Life," from the bride's favorite '80s movie. "The wedding was a dream come true!" she recalls.
